12PUAN INTERVIEW WITH MADAME MONSIEUR!

First of all we would like to wish you a good luck in Destination Eurovision final and congratulate you for winning the second semi. Your song got very positive comments around the European fans. You are one of the most possible candidates to win the national final. You also have many fans in Turkey. Thank you for making this interview with us.

12Puan: Who are Madame Monsieur?

Madame Monsieur: Madame Monsieur is a French pop duo. Our music has electro, traditional French music and urban influences.

12Puan: How did you get the idea of participating in Eurovision?

Madame Monsieur: We decided to participate in the Eurovision selection because we wanted carry our song “Mercy” and its message of hope as far as it can go.

12Puan: Can you please tell us about the making of process of mercy? What’s the message you want to tell to people with this song?

Madame Monsieur: On March 21st last year we saw a tweet announcing the news of the birth of a baby girl, Mercy, born in the middle of the sea aboard an SOS Mediterranean rescue boat. The news really touched us very deeply and we wanted to translate this emotion into song. We wrote “Mercy” the same day she was born. It’s not a political song. We’re not giving out lessons to anyone. It’s simply a song full of hope, one that puts a face on the word “migrant”.

12Puan: In the second semi final, you got the highest marks both from national and international jury. Were you expecting this?

Madame Monsieur: We didn’t expect that! It was a huge surprise. We can only imagine that our song touched the jury, even though it’s entirely in French. The music is universal and reaches beyond languages and cultures

12Puan: You listened 7 other songs in the Destination Eurovision final. Do you have a favorite among them?

Madame Monsieur: Honestly, all the songs are so very good. We know Igit, Nassi and Lisandro really well so it’s hard to be objective!

12Puan: Do you have a message to Turkish Eurovision fans?

Madame Monsieur: Thank you for your support and we hope to see you at Lisbon!
Görüşürüz !

We wish them good luck on Final of Destination Eurovision 2018!

Lyrics
Je suis née ce matin
Je m’appelle Mercy
Au milieu de la mer
Entre deux pays, Mercy

C’était un long chemin et
Maman l’a pris

English Translation
I was born this morning
My name is Mercy
In the middle of the sea
Between two countries, Mercy

It was a long path, and my mother took it
She had me inside her skin, eight months and a half
Oh yes, eight months and a half
We left our home, it was the war
For sure she had a reason, there was nothing to lose
Oh no, nothing but life

I was born this morning
My name is Mercy
They offered me a hand
And I’m alive
I am all those children
Who were taken by the sea
I’ll live a hundred thousand years
My name is Mercy

And there in front of our eyes, there was the enemy
A blue immensity, maybe infinite
But yes. we knew the price
Emerging from a wave, there’s a friendly ship
It gave again its luck to our survival
It’s there that I cried for the first time

I was born this morning
My name is Mercy
They offered me a hand
And I’m alive
I am all those children
Who were taken by the sea
I’ll live a hundred thousand years
My name is Mercy
I was born this morning
My name is Mercy

Mercy, Mercy, I’m alright, thank you
Mercy, Mercy, I’m alright, thank you
Mercy, Mercy, I’m alright, thank you
Mercy, Mercy, I’m alright, thank you
